Back in the Swing of Things!

Mom and her boys on the first day of school.

Sorry. This is long overdue...

Whew! The past few weeks have been an absolute whirlwind but I think that we're finally getting back into a semi-routine. Our summer has come to an end but we're still trying to find fun things to do. Saturday we're going to Holiday World which we love. We try to do it every year but couldn't squeeze it in sooner this summer. The weather is supposed to be 81 degrees and perfect so wish us luck! We always have a blast there.

On to more important news...SCHOOL! The kids are doing great. They both adore their teachers and seem to be doing really well. Cameron is a great reader and is improving daily and Cadin is coming right along with the basics. He has also re-started speech therapy so I'm sure we'll see his speech improve soon. Our speech teacher is great up there. Cam is still our little "social butterfly" and even got his card turned last week for it. What can I say? He's his father's son. :) I'm really glad that I brought them to school with me. It's somewhat of an adjustment having them there after school but it's working out and is much easier in the longrun. I have to share this story- I woke up at my normal time (a little before six) this morning and Cameron's light was on. I went into his room and he was fully dressed. That's when he told me he had been up since three in the morning watching TV because he was excited about school and couldn't get back to bed! It blew my mind. Needless to say, I think he'll make up for missed sleep tonight!

As for me, I feel like I'm barely holding my head above water. This year has just started out crazy but I know I'll get a handle on it eventually. I'll have to or I'll go insane! Or maybe I already am....don't ask my husband.

The kids have colds. What is it about starting school and getting sick? Happens every year. I'm sure they'll be fine but it's awful to hear them talk when they're like this! Especially little Cadin whose voice is so high anyway. It cracks me up though, bless his heart.

So once again, I'm reminded of how lucky I am. Two beautiful, healthy, smart boys who seem to be thriving. That's all I can ask for! I'll post more soon, I promise!

To Fill You In
I'm sure you can imagine, summer break is not exactly a break for my family! We stay busy with appointments and whatnot but we try to squeeze in the fun when we can. :) Although we only have about three weeks until school starts (yuck!) I can honestly say that we have had a really nice summer. So....to fill you in!

The Kids...
They are doing wonderfully! At their annual physicals they passed with flying colors although we left with instructions to feed Cadin more! Can you imagine? I don't know where that child puts what he eats but apparently for his height he needs more. He's just a couple of pounds lighter and inches shorter than his two year older brother! Cameron still has a hole in his eardrum but the surgery is postponed due to the fact that his right ear has worsened. So cross your fingers that we don't have to do tubes again and that his ears will heal with time. They both passed their eye exams a couple of weeks ago and Cam's eye seems to be improving a bit. The doctor wants to give it a little more time before deciding on glasses. So we go to the dentist in two weeks and that about sums up our medical visits! Cameron is losing teeth left and right. One was so loose that Cadin actually magaged to "kick" it out! Cadin's speech is improving tremendously as well. I am so proud of both of them. They're getting so big though. They will be coming with me to my school in August and are pretty excited about it. I love the fact that I will be with them more and will actually get to be involved in their school activities. We are really, truly blessed.

Summer Adventures
After weeks and weeks of laboring over our pool, I finally magaged to get it open recently. So needless to say we have spent an enormous amount of time lounging and playing. Not a bad way to pass the time, huh? Brandon and I spent a few days in Gatlinburg in June for our "second honeymoon". It was much needed and we had an incredible time. The kids and I joined Matthew and my mom for a camping trip to Lake Glendale the week of the 4th. It was nice to get away for a bit and the kids had a blast becoming "one with nature". :) Our next big trip will be to St. Louis probably in August but I'm sure we'll have several more little adventures before then. We always do!

I hope this finds everyone well. Now that I'm beginning to learn the in's and out's of this, I'm sure I'll update more often. I hope you all are doing great!

Starting Over

Gone are the days of Myspace and Facebook for me, so I thought this may just be a better way to keep the ones I love informed of the many happenings of my busy family! I promise to keep this up...bear with me!
